World Press Award, 1985

David Barbour is a landscape, travel and street photographer currently based in Ottawa, Canada, where he instructs photography workshops and continues his lifelong commitment of documenting people, places and things with his camera.

 

Some career highlights include a World Press Award (1985) for a photograph taken in Egypt and a Mid-Career Canada Council Grant (1999) to continue his work in Havana.

David gratefully acknowledges the National Film Board of Canada Still Photography Division/Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, led by Martha Langford and Martha Hanna, who motivated and inspired him to be the best he could be for over 50 years.
